Bath Half Marathon Raises Funds For LiteGait

10th June 2014, Bath: Two sports stars who suffered traumatic brain injuries took part in this year’s Bath Half Marathon to raise money for Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre in Bristol, the facility that helped rehabilitate them.

Former professional rugby player, Lee Audis, and gold European event rider medalist, Polly Williamson, ran the ‘Bath Half’ along with five of the therapists that treated them over the last year. Despite the unpleasant weather and tough, physical conditions, Lee finished the race in 4 hours 14 minutes and Polly completed it in 3 hours and 54 minutes – a huge achievement for both of them.

The pair collectively raised £10,500. Their donation, together with money donated from other sources, will now enable the Centre to purchase an electric standing/walking hoist and treadmill (the LiteGait®). The LiteGait® simultaneously controls weight bearing, posture and balance over a treadmill or over ground and will allow Frenchay’s therapy team to get patient’s standing and walking at an earlier point in their rehabilitation.

Alison Woods, Centre Manager at Frenchay Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, said: “Polly and Lee’s participation in the Bath Half Marathon is a tremendous achievement and testament to the hard work and determination that they showed during their rehabilitation. We are very honoured that they decided to fundraise on behalf of the centre and our other patients.”

  • Ordered a folding shower seat with 2 grab bars in the morning and these were delivered to me in the afternoon of the same day - that is what I call service. However the following day a further 2 Grab Bars were delivered and the co said that they would collect these the same day - still waiting after 1 week and another call - not so good and still waiting. A point that the co should consider is that we are finding it difficult to get someone to fit the shower seat and they are unable to provide any guidance or help. would suggest that they collect names and telephone numbers of local tradesmen who are trusted to fit their mobility equipment and provide guidance on fitting

  • Fantastic service, I order a Bathmaster Deltis bath chair lift on the 18/08/2015 and using the standard delivery system it was delivered to my house the following day. The chair works very well, it comes packed in the manufactures original box, battery ready charged for instantaneous use and at a very competitive price. Very good performance all round.

  • I was looking for a buggy for adults and the one I purchased named Troy. was excellent, I can put it up & down in seconds. The wheels are superbly easy to turn with. My husband says it is very comfortable and the black leather with red piping is very smart. When folded up there is a padded grip in the middle of the frame, which is perfectly balanced to lift it in and out of cars etc. a wonderfully strong but light wheelchair.
